Traditional Dutch Meal - 1 Course & Drink

First slide

You can’t be in Amsterdam for an epic stag weekend without dining on a traditional two course Dutch meal with drinks.  Come and sit back and relax and see what all the fuss is about.  While Amsterdam is not typically known for their cuisine, it gives a good opportunity to try some of the traditional Dutch foods that have become famous in the area.  One of the most popular dishes is Dutch new herring.

Usually the raw herring is served with chopped raw onions.  The experience is not in eating the herring but in the traditional way the herring is eaten.  Folks eat this dish by lifting the herring up by the tail and then they take a bite upwards.  If eating the fish out of thin air isn’t your fancy, then you can eat it in little pieces or on a sandwich.   If fish doesn’t fancy your palate, there are many other fantastic traditional options.

You can’t leave Amsterdam without having some A ‘stroopwafel’ which is a unique type of cookie that is beloved all over the world.  Picture an amazing waffle cookie made from baked batter and then filled with special sweet and sticky caramel syrup in the middle.  We suggest eating them while they are still warm and the syrup melts in your mouth on contact.  You will not be disappointed with this meal.  Whether you want kroket, patat, bitterballen, or poffertjes- you will be accommodated with this meal.

There is nothing more memorable than a fantastic meal with drinks that are served to you and those you are closest too.  You may want to finish your meal with some Dutch cheeses or even some “drop” which is salty or sweet licorice that has become famous from the area.  This is a culturally packed meal that any stag weekend in Amsterdam should require.
